For bespoke research, I charge £30 per hour and work on an hourly basis. I provide a free consultation and, before I begin, we will agree on the scope of your family history research and how much it will cost.
Typically £240 would provide a basic initial report into a Victorian family, detailing one or two generations of one line and giving additional information about their lives. However, every family is different and factors such as how often the family moved, whether they kept to the same profession and how common their name was in their area will affect how long the research will take.
I can advise about your specific family as part of the free consultation and give an estimate for what you might expect to receive for your money. There’s no obligation to buy.
I charge £10 travel costs to visit record offices, plus my hourly rate for time spent in research. I make no charge for my time spent travelling. I visit local Archives in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Suffolk and Huntingdonshire. All certificates and photocopies are charged at cost price.
